Basic Backup Power Supply with the PV Point
The PV Point provides an integrated basic backup power supply for the Fronius GEN24 and Fronius GEN24 Plus. During a power failure, single-phase electrical loads up to 3 kW are supplied via a fused socket or a fused circuit. For even greater convenience, the PV Point Comfort ensures that selected electrical appliances are continuously supplied with power both in parallel grid operation and during a power failure. This accessory product can be easily retrofitted as a PC board in the inverter. The cabling of both solutions must be protected with a type A 30 mA RCD, plus a 13 A automatic circuit breaker for the PV Point Comfort.
Advantages
- Automatic activation in the event of grid failure
- No complex additional installations required
- Reliable supply for single-phase loads up to 3 kW
Full Backup for maximum autonomy
With the Full Backup option, the Fronius GEN24 Plus in combination with a battery storage system offers maximum independence. Our black-start capable backup power solution is not only able to keep the entire household supplied, but can also operate energy-intensive loads such as heat pumps (as long as enough power from the PV system or the storage is available). In the event of a power failure, the inverter switches to backup power mode with the help of a backup power switching device such as the Fronius Backup Controller* or the Fronius Backup Switch*. It can do this automatically or manually.
Advantages
- Supplying the entire household including large loads
- Switching components tailored to the customer’s requirements
- Efficient energy flows even in a backup power situation
* Depending on country-specific certification and availability
How it works at a glance
Basic backup power supply
The PV Point is a backup power solution integrated into the inverter that supplies current to single-phase loads up to 3 kW via a fused socket or a fused circuit. Backup power management with the PV Point Comfort has the advantage that the connected loads are continuously supplied with power, including in parallel grid operation.

Full Backup
In the event of grid failure, the hybrid inverter automatically disconnects the household from the grid. Energy for the entire household is then provided by the PV system and the battery storage system (as long as enough power is available). Our hybrid inverters and the Fronius Smart Meter ensure that the household remains disconnected from the grid until the fault is rectified and normal operation is restored.
